David Hornung, author of ‘Colour: a workshop for artists and designers’ demonstrates how to create a proportional and non-proportional inventory from the colours you see in an object.
Are you a tetrachromat?
1. the same mid-tone achromatic gray appearing different against two different achromatic gray backgrounds — one high key, one low key
2. five of the same color appearing different against two different backgrounds
tip: Using two colors in the same family and a close complement make this slightly easier.
3. 1 example of two different colors appearing the same on different backgrounds
You can use paint or commercial paint chips. You’ll need to provide some way for the viewer to compare the colors.
